Today I want to share my 3rd personal challenge with you from this month's
CupCards to Go Card kit. The main kit has sold
out but there are a c
ouple of
Mini Kits still
available. The mini kits
include all the gorge
ous contents from
the main kit with the exce
ption of a couple
of things (the stamp,
paint dabber, grocery sac
k card & crocheted flowers).
However, you can purc
hase the crocheted flowers
in the
toppings section
this month so you'll have
the "t-shirt" &
gorgeous flowers. (you can
use any paint dabber to cr
eate with, like the one that ca
me in last month's kit ;) )
THE PAINT DABBER--PERI COOL
I had not worked with one of these before so it was an easy pick for a challenge this month for me. I really wanted to see if I could make these a must-have in my personal scrapbooking supplies & well, hubby will be THRILLED to know, that I LOVED it...giggle.
happy birthday sweet girl card
In the CupCards To Go July Kit, you will receive Laundry Line Crocheted Flowers & they come on this adorable, little t-shirt. (that shirt will be used as a template over & over..giggle) I took the t-shirt & used it as a "mask" on the kraft cardstock & using the paint dabber, painted around the edges of the t-shirt to create my little girl dress. Let it dry & then cut the kraft card down to the size you'd like your image to be & then begin embellishing as you like. (there are sequins, trims, rubs, stick pins, heart tags, buttons, all in the kit, so you have tons of options) The DT has shared several ideas of embellishing that adorable t-shirt/dress in the DT GALLERY using paint, papers, pleats, trims....etc.
I LOVED using the Jillibean Soup labels to create my gardens for my flowers. They are awesome & were the inspiration for my next card. I painted a piece of kraft with my dabber, let dry & then cut scallops around a half circle.
Adhered to card; added rub, trims & "scene"
BUTTERFLY MASK TUTORIAL
And then I thought that it would be fun to use a "smaller" mask. I had some butterflies that I thought would make the cutest little notecards if I could mask them. Well, with the dabber that would be a little bit hard. So, I just removed the cap (after shaking it up really well) & used a q-tip to mask my butterflies. It worked perfectly & left a "painting" texture to the card which I loved!
TUTORIAL
Supplies: (overcast day, sorry about the darker lighting)
Step 1
use any chipboard piece, lie flat on cardstock (leave room for edging the image); using q-tip, draw a "line around your mask" with paint
Step 2
remove chipboard. use q-tip & additional paint to paint outward strokes from the masked line. continue all around butterfly.
tip #1
when removing your masks, i don't try to "lift" mine from my projects. i simply turn my cardstock over & apply a small amount of pressure or tap in the middle (if needed) once or twice & the mask falls off; leaving a clean masked image & not smearing paint inside your masked lines while trying to lift it off.
Cut image down to size you'd like to use on your card front & embellish
I can't wait to see all the cool projects that will be created using this paint dabber. It was oh so much fun & the best part is.... I still have a ton of paint left for more, yay!
If you have any questions whatsoever, please don't hesitate to email me!
hugs & so much love!
